oh... that is interesting. My honest reaction to this is that I partly agreed with it. I think there are times when churches spend too much time and effort on these kind of things. (i.e. do the notices really have to be like some sort of youth tv show?!). That said I am the kind of person that cringes at the tendancy to overuse comicsans.
I've been thrown by the fact that it's signed by the father of lies.
I don't know what to think. How much is too much and how much is not enough?
Like Tom, I don't quite get the point being made. It seems like an attempt at a Screwtape Letter. Yet the advice seems wise and godly. Or am I missing it, should creative christian keep working hard because their efforts do change peoples lives. Do we really want to say artistic endeavour makes no difference? Maybe the message is chill out and stop taking yourself and your work so seriously? I am not a 'creative christian' which might be why I don't get it.
Or is said 'creative christian' putting out a thought for discussion? Don't think post has me in mind as don't get what he is talking about.
Just read it again and don't get it, come on creatives help this unimaginative christian out.
The fact is that God communicates through his Word, yes - but that doesn't mean that creativity is either useless or valueless. "Satan" in the article is (as Satan the real thing also does) twisting the truth to make it sound true.
If we can serve God through arts, music, whatever, then let's do it. I guess don't get too high an opinion of ourselves in doing so, but similarly don't let Satan knock the worth of art! After all, God gave us gifts for a reason.
